Sistema iForenLIBS: aplicación a casos reales

iForenLIBS es una innovadora herramienta forense basada en la tecnología LIBS (Espectroscopia de Ruptura Inducida por Láser). Se utiliza tanto en la detección de residuos de disparo (GSR) como en la estimación de distancias a las que se han producido. Su capacidad de análisis in situ, sin preparación previa de la muestra, alta sensibilidad y portabilidad, lo han convertido en una herramienta de gran utilidad en la balística forense a nivel operativo. Aporta rapidez y objetividad a partir del análisis elemental de las partículas que se encuentran en las distintas superficies de forma automatizada tanto en laboratorio como en las escenas del delito. Se presentan dos casos reales como ejemplo de aplicación del sistema. En el primer caso, se muestran los resultados obtenidos del análisis de varias lesiones en una prenda de vestir. Tras el análisis directo sobre la evidencia, se determinó que fueron causadas por arma de fuego permitiendo estimar tanto la dirección como la distancia de disparo. En segundo lugar, se presenta la posibilidad del uso del sistema para verificar las zonas de impacto efectuadas por un arma blanca. Tras realizar una extracción mediante un adhesivo de los elementos que se encontraban en la superficie, analizar y valorar los resultados, fue posible correlacionar los elementos químicos encontrados en el escudo policial con el cuchillo que las produjo.
